in the dual nature of thought lies that, which divides and thus hides. but what it hides, it also reveals…
A problem of a work being finished or unfinished is of a great concern for the artist. At that time he sets out to make various decisions based on form, colour, aesthetics, content etc., to bring his work to conclusion. There are also other decisional problems like trusting on instinct or strategy, or is there really beauty in perfection?, which can complicate this to no end. And adding a philosophical perspective like, “The more you say, the less it becomes” and so on, can strike fear in the heart of the bravest, running the risk of ending up with an over finished painting.
‘Finished/Unfinished’ is thus an attempt to expose some of these situations by exhibiting artworks in different states of abandonment.
